The Candyman Strings & Things is New Mexico’s premier
full-line music store and a welcoming music hub and education
center serving people from all walks of life; from families to
professional musicians, and everyone in between. Winning the
prestigious NAMM Dealer of the Year Award (the best music store in
104 countries!), The Candyman also offers an instrument rental
program for schools outside of Santa Fe, as well as repair and
commercial sound installation services. 

 

For the last fifty years, The Candyman Strings & Things has proudly taken pleasure in serving New Mexico’s musical community, from donating musical instruments, providing free services, awarding student scholarships, and helping keep music in our schools, just to name a few. Now, we’re asking our community and industry to help us by being a part of our September 22nd celebration, The Candyman Salutes 1969 Music Festival! The Festival will not only celebrate The Candyman’s 50th year making lives better through music, its mission is to also raise much needed funds for two amazing local charities, The Candyman Scholarship Fund and Soldiers Songs and Voices (a local non-profit serving veterans and their families).

 

In honor of The Candyman’s 50th Anniversary (and the 50th anniversary of the original Woodstock Festival!), this free to attend event will celebrate the diversity of Santa Fe and the music of 1969. Local musical acts with genres ranging from, mariachi, indigenous, folk, rock, and country bands will play throughout the day, concluding with a tribute concert to Woodstock! Graduates of The Candyman Summer Rock Camp and Rock Schools will also perform. The planning committee has come up with a multitude of off-stage activities, including interactive booths, a 1969 costume contest, an instrument petting zoo, raffles, silent auctions, games, photo opportunities with a VW Wagon, a children’s area and more!

The Candyman has joined forces with AMP Concerts, an experienced music event organizer, and The Bridge at The Santa Fe Brewing Company, who has vowed to donate a portion of their sales to the aforementioned causes. AMP has planned and executed successful concerts, community events and music festivals across the state of New Mexico. With AMP as part of our Festival team, we can promise professional planning and execution to ensure the Festival is extremely enjoyable and well attended. A crowd of 1,500 or more is anticipated to participate!

The Success of The Festival depends in part on the donations and sponsorships to pay for the cost of entertainment, insurance, parking/security, etc. We are reaching out to ask for your support to help off-set these costs. Sponsors can be assured that their company’s name will connect with musicians, music lovers, veterans and families, which will undoubtedly bring favorable exposure. Sponsor names and logos will be synonymous with our festival and will enjoy a wealth of brand exposure opportunities. In addition to the sponsorship package chosen, sponsors can expect to be featured on The Candyman Salutes 1969 Music Festival website, social media posts, emails, and more.

As we enter our 50th year of being an independent business in Santa Fe, we’re delighted with the success of our music store, education programs and community outreach. We look forward to building more and more bridges in our community and helping to ensure that music education is a community priority and our veterans and their families have access to free instruments and songwriting workshops as a form of post-conflict care.
