You can add your name to the waiting list by selecting the appropriate box on the registration form.

If we receive several waiting list requests, we may be able to open up an additional band to accommodate.

Each band is generally limited to five to six rockers. However, we have had bands with as few as three and as many as seven (additional members must be approved by the instructor).
Ideally, each band will have:
A bassist
A drummer
A keyboard player
A guitarist
A vocalist
Many bands have more than one vocalist, guitarist, etc. Other instruments are welcome!

The Candyman Rock School celebrates a diverse range of musical styles and genres, catering to the interests and talents of our participants. While rock and its various subgenres form the core of our curriculum, participants also explore elements of pop, indie, alternative, and more. Our goal is to provide a dynamic musical experience that inspires creativity and fosters a love for music in all its forms.

Participants are encouraged to bring their song choices on the first day of rehearsal. All suggestions will be audibly reviewed and selected through a voting process. In more advanced bands with five or fewer members, each band member may choose one song for the band to perform. This process helps participants learn teamwork and adaptability as part of their band experience.
Song choices may be vetoed by the instructor if they:
Are deemed too challenging for all band members
Are significantly outside the rock genre
Contain inappropriate content
Contain vulgar and/or profanity
Contain messages that make one or more band members uncomfortable
Selected songs must comply with FCC regulations. In cases where a song contains minimal profanity, alternative lyrics or words may be substituted.

The Candyman Rock School staff places participants according to age, as we’ve found that peer-to-peer relationships are the most important element of band placement.
However, if a participant finds themselves in a band where they feel they don't fit due to reasons such as maturity level, skill level, musical preferences, gender dynamics, or personality differences, we encourage them to approach the situation positively:
Maturity or Skill Level Differences: Use the opportunity to mentor others and enhance leadership skills, fostering growth within the band.
Musical Preferences: Communicate openly with bandmates about song choices and explore new musical styles together.
Comfort Zone: Challenge yourself and encourage others to step outside their comfort zones, creating a more enriching experience for everyone.
If a participant feels significantly mismatched with their band, they are encouraged to speak with their instructor or the Rock School Director for guidance and potential adjustments.
Our experience shows that embracing challenges within a band often leads to positive outcomes and personal growth. Trust in the process—most participants find their experience rewarding by the end of Rock School! Please note: There will be no refunds issued for dissatisfaction with band placement. The Candyman Rock School does not require participants to have full command of their instruments to participate. Musicians of all levels are encouraged to register.
However, since Rock School is designed for group instruction, we are not able to provide individual lessons. Participants should already know how to play their instrument.
(Did we mention we have a super cool private lessons program?)
